There should perhaps be explanation of how the examples follow the rules, how the sentences given as examples do what was explained as the "rule."

Referring to the simple/compound sentence examples? I agree.

Referring to the entire page, there should be explanations of how the examples follow the rules. This would help people who are trying to follow the rules understand how the examples do indeed follow the rules.
