Crowley and Hawhee explain why metaphor is a trope, but we commonly refer to metaphor as a "figure of speech." So, is it a trope or a figure?

Also, for more on metaphor see Kövecses's Metaphors: A Practical Introduction and Lakoff and Johnson's Metaphors We Live By. Both are currently available in Halle as of Wed., Feb. 10.
